We must congratulate Devjyot Ghoshal & Sharmistha Mukherjee for bringing out a thought provoking news item in Business Standard dated 28th Feb'2012 titled Still waiting for an electric start and it is high time that

1. our policy makers wake-up and take speedy measures for switching over to electric from oil economy.Please listen to Ex-MD Sridharan's advice for bring Metro in every city where population is more than 1million as it is 1/6th or 1/5th (cheaper than) of road  transport which is also more prone to accidents and other safety and environment issues!Read at  DMRC MD E Sreedharan says many Indian cities need metro rail urgently
2. consumers 

                  - four wheeler (car) buyers start using electric cars 
                     rather than diesel/gas cars!

                  - two wheeler buyers start using electric 2-wheeler(1unit 
                    of electricity is enough to run for 70km)
                  - three wheeler (auto drivers) buyers start using electric 
                    autos...Look how auto drivers in Bangladesh have 
                    been benefiting out of it at Electric rickshaws in Rangpur                      
                     and believe me its just not an article I 
                    picked up from web and saying something but 
                    practically visited visited country side of Bangladesh 
                    and convinced with many number of autos running on 
                     electricity which has convinced me a lot!
